RAWALPINDI: Tensions between provincial and federal authorities flared on Friday when Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur was stopped by Punjab Police from meeting PTI founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail.

According to reports, CM Gandapur was intercepted at the Gorakhpur checkpoint while en route to visit the incarcerated former Prime Minister. A heated exchange took place between the KP Chief Minister and the Punjab Police officers present.

Speaking to the media shortly afterward, an agitated Gandapur declared:

“I am the Chief Minister of a province — Punjab Police has no right to stop me from meeting my leader. I demand the Prime Minister and federal cabinet take note.”

In a bold statement directed at the federal government, Gandapur added:

“Now let any of your MNAs enter my province and see what happens. In this war-like situation, my message is clear — like it or not, we are ready.”

This confrontation comes amid heightened national security tensions, further complicating political and provincial relations between KP and the federal government, especially in the wake of India-Pakistan hostilities.

The incident is expected to fuel ongoing friction between PTI-led KP and the federal authorities in Islamabad, raising concerns about the erosion of inter-provincial cooperation at a critical time for the country.
