Eight Family Members Killed in Fatal Car Crash on Karakoram Highway in Lower Kohistan

A tragic car accident in Lower Kohistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, claimed the lives of eight family members, including three women and children. The incident occurred on the Karakoram Highway, specifically in the Matta Banda area, when a passenger vehicle traveling from Rawalpindi to Gilgit lost control due to high speed and plunged into a deep gorge.

According to Rescue 1122, the passengers, who are believed to be from Rawalpindi, died on the spot. The victims were part of a family on their way to Gilgit, and their sudden and tragic deaths have shocked the local community. The accident occurred on a particularly hazardous section of the highway, known for its steep cliffs and difficult terrain.

As soon as the crash was reported, a Rescue 1122 team, supported by local volunteers, rushed to the scene. The rescue operation was complicated by the rugged terrain of the area, but the teams worked tirelessly to retrieve the bodies from the gorge. Once the bodies were recovered, they were transported to the hospital where they will undergo legal formalities before being handed over to the family.
