A key member of Elon Musk’s U.S. DOGE Service, Edward Coristine, was once involved with a cybercrime group that boasted about hacking, data breaches, and cyberstalking an FBI agent, according to a Reuters investigation.
Coristine, now 19, is a prominent figure in Musk’s initiative to downsize the U.S. government. Previously, he operated a company called DiamondCDN, which provided digital services. Digital records reveal that between 2022 and 2023, Coristine’s company supported "EGodly," a cybercrime group known for hacking and harassment.
Connections to Cybercrime
In 2023, EGodly publicly thanked Coristine’s DiamondCDN for providing security services, including DDoS protection and website hosting. Digital records show EGodly’s site was linked to DiamondCDN's infrastructure for months. The group bragged about infiltrating law enforcement emails, hijacking phone numbers, and even doxxing an FBI agent.
One disturbing incident involved EGodly sharing personal information about the FBI agent, including his home address and phone number. The group even filmed a drive-by of his house, shouting threats. The former FBI agent described EGodly as a “dangerous” group but declined to comment on any ongoing investigations.
Concerns Over Government Access
Despite this past, Coristine is now listed as a senior adviser at both the State Department and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), organizations responsible for protecting national security. His involvement in Musk’s DOGE team, which has broad access to government networks, has raised alarms among cybersecurity experts.
Former CISA deputy director Nitin Natarajan called the situation “concerning,” emphasizing that Coristine’s ties to cybercriminals were recent. The FBI and other agencies have not publicly commented on the matter.
As scrutiny around Musk’s efforts to reshape government operations grows, Coristine’s past association with a cybercrime ring raises serious questions about the security and oversight of those given access to critical U.S. systems.
