Maulana Fazlur Rehman Rejects Grand Alliance; PTI Clarifies Stance on Minerals Bill

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), has declined the invitation to join the opposition’s Grand Alliance. In an interview with Geo News, PTI’s Central Secretary for Information Sheikh Waqas Akram explained that Fazlur Rehman had raised concerns related to local politics. Despite assurances from PTI to address his concerns on the instructions of PTI founder Imran Khan, Maulana Fazlur Rehman decided to seek consultation with his party before ultimately refusing the offer.

Sheikh Waqas Akram clarified that in the case of an electoral alliance, both sides typically reach a consensus on the issues at hand. Regarding the Minerals Bill, Akram confirmed that Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur will first brief the PTI founder about the bill. If Imran Khan approves it, the bill will be passed; otherwise, it will not proceed. Akram emphasized that there is no division within PTI on the matter.
