Panic gripped parts of Peshawar on Tuesday after mild earthquake tremors were felt across the city. According to the Seismological Center, the earthquake measured 4.7 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter located in the Hindu Kush mountain range in Afghanistan.

The quake occurred at a depth of 211 kilometers beneath the Earth's surface, which is considered a deep-focus earthquake. Despite the moderate magnitude, the depth helped prevent significant damage on the surface.

Residents in various areas of Peshawar reported feeling the ground shake, prompting many to rush out of their homes, offices, and buildings in fear. No immediate reports of casualties or property damage have been received.

The Hindu Kush region is known for frequent seismic activity due to its location near the junction of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates. Experts have long considered this area a seismically active zone with a history of earthquakes affecting Pakistan and its neighboring regions.

Authorities have advised citizens to remain calm but vigilant, and to follow safety procedures during aftershocks or future tremors.
