POLITICS & POLICY MAKING

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has rejected social media rumors about President Asif Ali Zardari being removed from office, calling them baseless and politically motivated. Speaking to reporters in Sukkur during Ashura security arrangements, Naqvi emphasized the importance of national unity.
“For the first time, politicians, the government, and the military establishment are all on the same page,” he said. “Some people are uncomfortable with this, which is why they’re spreading such rumors.”
Ashura Processions and Security
Naqvi praised law enforcement and administrative teams for successfully managing over 2,700 Muharram processions across Pakistan. He particularly highlighted Sukkur for hosting the largest Ashura procession in the country.
“The credit goes to the entire team. Hopefully, all processions will end peacefully by evening,” he added.
Addressing Rumors of Zardari’s Dismissal
When asked by a journalist about the rumored removal of President Zardari and possible constitutional amendments, Naqvi was quick to dismiss the claims:
“Please, refrain from politics for just two days. Don’t believe everything on social media. This propaganda comes from those who are uneasy seeing everyone united.”
The Minister reiterated that there is no political turmoil or move to oust President Zardari, calling it a narrative pushed by those uncomfortable with the visible alignment between civilian and military leadership.
Law & Order in Sindh
Naqvi also responded to concerns about deteriorating law and order in parts of Sindh, particularly Shikarpur, Kashmore, and Kandhkot. He assured the media that the federal and provincial governments are working together to tackle criminal networks and banditry.
“Just as we have taken down terrorists in KP, we will also go after dacoits in Sindh. This is a joint mission of both federal and provincial governments,” he said.
Naqvi’s remarks come at a time of heightened sensitivity in the country due to Ashura security, political rumors, and ongoing law enforcement operations across multiple provinces.
