Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL) has announced the discovery of major oil and gas reserves in the Tall Block of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Karak district.
In a formal notification to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), POL confirmed that daily gas production from the newly tapped reserves stands at 22.1 million cubic feet, while daily oil production reaches 2,112 barrels.
“The discovery came as a result of recent drilling operations in the Tall Block,” the company said.
The find is being hailed as a strategic win for Pakistan’s energy independence, especially amid growing reliance on imported fuels and rising global energy prices.
📊 Key Production Stats:
- Gas Output: 22.1 million cubic feet/day
- Oil Output: 2,112 barrels/day
Energy sector analysts believe the discovery could significantly ease Pakistan's import bill and enhance energy security by encouraging greater local exploration and production.
“This is a much-needed boost for our domestic energy production capabilities,” said one industry expert. “It will help reduce dependency on foreign sources and support local economic growth, especially in underdeveloped regions like Karak.”
The Tall Block has historically shown promise in hydrocarbon potential, and this latest discovery reaffirms the geological richness of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Government officials are expected to release more details soon regarding infrastructure expansion, pipeline connectivity, and future exploration plans in the region.
This milestone comes at a time when Pakistan is striving for energy sustainability and long-term economic stability, making it a notable step in that direction.
