NHA to Hold Open Auction for 74 Toll Plazas on June 19: Abdul Aleem Khan

The National Highway Authority (NHA) will hold an open auction of its 74 toll plazas across the country on June 19. The process will take place at the Jinnah Convention Center in Islamabad in the presence of registered bidders.

Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has instructed that the auction process be conducted transparently and efficiently. He emphasized that the NHA should benefit directly from this new approach, stating that “the open auction of toll plazas is a positive decision that reflects our commitment to transparency and institutional reform.”

He further directed the relevant authorities to provide all necessary facilities to participants at the auction venue, including the establishment of bank counters at the convention center to ease transactions.

“This will not only increase the revenue of the NHA but will also benefit the national treasury,” said the minister. He added that an atmosphere of competition is being fostered, which will lead to higher bids and ensure fair market value for all toll collection contracts.

The auction, advertised widely in the media, marks the first time such a large-scale open bidding process is being conducted for toll plazas under the NHA. According to officials, this step is part of broader reforms and efficiency improvements being introduced within the Ministry of Communications.

Minister Abdul Aleem Khan reiterated that enhancing NHA’s revenue and institutional integrity remains his top priority.
