Pak Retaliation Certain After Indian Drone Strikes: Khawaja Asif

ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has confirmed that Pakistan will retaliate against India following a wave of drone attacks that violated Pakistani airspace, escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

In an interview with a British news agency on Thursday, Asif said the Pakistan-India conflict was reaching a dead end, with “no room left for de-escalation.” He made it clear that retaliation is certain, emphasizing that the attacks will not go unanswered.

According to Asif, no Pakistani military installation sustained damage during the Indian drone assault. He specifically refuted Indian claims of having damaged Pakistan’s defence infrastructure in Lahore, stating such allegations are “baseless and false.

The Defence Minister assured that Pakistani retaliation would specifically target Indian military installations, marking a significant potential escalation in the standoff that began earlier this week.

The minister also revealed that the United States is actively mediating and attempting to reduce tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi. However, he implied that the situation may have gone beyond the point of diplomatic resolution.

25 Israeli-Made Indian Drones Shot Down

Meanwhile, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) reported that 25 Herop drones, of Israeli origin and deployed by India, were shot down by Pakistani defence systems across multiple regions including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Chakwal, Attock, Bahawalpur, Miano, Karachi and Chhor.

The drones were reportedly neutralized using both soft-kill (electronic) and hard-kill (kinetic) methods.

According to the DG ISPR, four army personnel were injured in a drone crash in Lahore, while a civilian was martyred in Mianwali, Sindh. The ISPR described the drone attacks as "cowardly" and claimed they are a sign of India’s anxiety and panic in the face of Pakistan’s operational readiness.

“These provocative drone strikes reflect India's frustration,” said the military’s spokesperson. He stressed that Pakistan remains fully prepared to respond to any further aggression with force and resolve.
