Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, currently on a two-day state visit to Saudi Arabia, performed Umrah on the night between Thursday and Friday, where he offered special prayers for the success of Pakistan’s national initiatives, including Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, and the well-being of the Muslim ummah.

The government’s official X (formerly Twitter) account confirmed the development, stating that the Kaaba’s sacred gates were specially opened for the visiting Pakistani delegation. During the visit, the prime minister and his team prayed for Pakistan’s prosperity, regional peace, and the welfare of oppressed Muslim communities, particularly in Gaza and Indian-occupied Kashmir.

Accompanied by Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal General Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, the prime minister also extended prayers of gratitude for Pakistan’s recent economic progress and diplomatic stability.

The visit, taking place on the invitation of Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman from June 5–6, focuses on deepening bilateral cooperation in strategic sectors such as trade, investment, defense, and technology. The Pakistani leadership is also expected to thank the Kingdom for its constructive diplomatic efforts during the recent Pakistan-India tensions.

According to a statement from the Foreign Office, “This visit underscores the deep-rooted, time-tested ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, anchored in shared faith, mutual respect, and strategic partnership.”

It further added that both leaderships are aligned on key regional and global issues and aim to strengthen mutual engagement in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and Pakistan’s development agenda.

The high-level delegation’s presence at the holy site and their interaction with Saudi counterparts are expected to pave the way for new avenues of collaboration, particularly in economic reforms, infrastructure development, and regional peace initiatives.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s symbolic Umrah and high-level engagements reflect a reaffirmation of Pakistan’s long-standing bond with the Kingdom and a commitment to expanding multifaceted cooperation.
