PM Shehbaz Sharif Hails Divine Support After Ceasefire Between Pakistan and India

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reacted to the ceasefire announcement between Pakistan and India by invoking a powerful Quranic verse, stating: “Victory is from Allah and victory is near.”

The Prime Minister's statement came shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that both nuclear-armed neighbors had agreed to an immediate and complete ceasefire following intense diplomatic efforts by Washington overnight.

President Trump, speaking on the social media platform X, said the United States had engaged in back-to-back discussions with both nations and played a central role in brokering the ceasefire.

“I congratulate both countries for showing wisdom and agreeing to a ceasefire,” Trump wrote.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, referring to the Quranic message of hope and divine support, acknowledged the ceasefire with a tone of religious and national resolve, stating that Pakistan remains steadfast in defending its sovereignty.

The ceasefire follows several days of high tensions, including cross-border strikes, cyberattacks, and military deployments. The escalation had raised concerns globally, prompting urgent international mediation.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed that the ceasefire was the result of sustained diplomatic efforts throughout the day, while India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Masri also acknowledged the agreement and the cessation of hostilities.

As the region steps back from the brink, leaders across Pakistan have called for continued vigilance, unity, and prayers for peace and national integrity.
