PTI Leader Sher Afzal Marwat Expelled from Party Committees on Imran Khan's Directives

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat has been removed from the party's core and political committees under the direct orders of PTI founder Imran Khan. This decision follows Marwat's public criticism of PTI's top leadership, where he expressed refusal to work under certain leaders.

Speaking to the media, PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan stated that Imran Khan directed to issue a show-cause notice to Marwat for attempting to "spoil" relations with Saudi Arabia. Marwat's repeated violations of the party's policies despite warnings led to his expulsion from key decision-making bodies.

Ayub further revealed that Imran Khan emphasized Marwat's attempt to damage personal relations with Saudi Arabia, noting Khan's strong ties with Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman. Marwat had previously alleged Saudi Arabia's involvement, along with the United States, in the ouster of Imran Khan's government in April 2022.

The PTI's political committee has been instructed to take disciplinary action against Marwat for his statements and actions. Ayub clarified that while he holds the position of secretary general, the ultimate authority to make decisions lies with the incarcerated PTI founder.

The controversy surrounding Marwat's remarks underscores the challenges faced by the PTI in maintaining party discipline and managing external relations, particularly with key allies like Saudi Arabia.
