PTI Moves LHC for Permission to Hold Rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on August 5

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has filed a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking permission to hold a political rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on August 5.

The petition was submitted by Imtiaz Mahmood Sheikh, a member of the Punjab Assembly from PTI. He stated that an official application had already been sent to the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, requesting a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the public gathering.

However, the petition noted that no response or NOC has been issued by the local administration as of yet.

Sheikh argued that holding peaceful rallies is a fundamental constitutional right under Article 16 of the Constitution, and the denial or delay in granting permission constitutes a violation of democratic and political freedoms.

“We have fulfilled all legal requirements, yet we are being ignored. The court must intervene to uphold our constitutional right,” the petition emphasized.

PTI has announced plans for a large-scale political gathering at the iconic Minar-e-Pakistan ground, a site traditionally used for major political rallies in the country.

The party is expecting thousands of supporters to attend the event, which it says will mark a new phase of political mobilization, especially as legal challenges and political tensions continue to rise.

The Lahore High Court is expected to take up the petition in the coming days. Political observers are watching closely, as the decision could set a precedent for political gatherings in the province under the current administrative climate.
