Ramesh Singh Arora: Pakistan’s Bond with Sikhs Is Like 'Nails and Flesh'

Punjab Minister for Minority Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora has said that the relationship between Pakistan and the Sikh community is inseparable, describing it as “like nails and flesh.”

Speaking to senior journalist Hamid Mir on Geo News’ program 'Capital Talk', the minister reaffirmed that Pakistan has always respected and honoured the Sikh community, countering negative narratives about minority treatment in the country.

“I believe the relationship between Pakistan and Sikhs is like nails and flesh,” said Arora.
“Pakistan issued visas to 7,000 Sikh pilgrims, out of which 800 arrived. Some spread propaganda about Pakistan being unsafe, but those who came received nothing but love.”

The comments were made during a broader discussion on Pakistan-India relations, particularly in light of recent tensions and security developments.

Lt. Gen. (retd) Muhammad Saeed, former Chief of General Staff and defense analyst, also appeared on the show, remarking that India’s drone activity is an expression of frustration and an attempt to test Pakistan’s defensive capabilities.

Senator Dinesh Kumar added that if tensions escalate, Pakistan's minorities will be on the front line in standing with their country. He drew a stark contrast between the treatment of minorities in India and Pakistan:

“In India, the state is involved in the persecution of minorities, while in Pakistan, the state has always supported and protected its minority communities.”

The episode of Capital Talk emphasized the unity within Pakistan’s diverse population and highlighted the government’s efforts to foster interfaith harmony amid regional tensions.
