Rawalpindi Police Deploy 5,000 Personnel for PSL X Security

As cricket fever grips the nation, Rawalpindi police have implemented “foolproof” security arrangements ahead of the much-anticipated HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) X 2025, which kicks off today at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. According to a police spokesperson, a deployment of over 5,000 police officers has been made to ensure the safety and smooth running of the event.

The 10th edition of the PSL will begin with a high-voltage clash between Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars, preceded by a dazzling opening ceremony. This year’s six-team tournament will feature a total of 34 matches, scheduled between April 11 and May 18.

The extensive security plan has been coordinated with the Pakistan Army, Rangers, and other intelligence and law enforcement agencies. Special forces including the Dolphin Squad, Elite Force, and over 376 traffic police officers will be stationed around the stadium and key locations across the city.

Senior officials including Regional Police Officer Babar Sarfraz Alpa and City Police Officer Syed Khalid Hamdani will supervise the on-ground security arrangements alongside other senior officers.

According to the plan, visitors will be allowed entry only through walk-through gates and after thorough full-body searches. A special control room has been established to monitor the stadium and city-wide security through Safe City cameras and other surveillance systems.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, chaired a crucial meeting to finalize preparations, assuring that top-tier security will be provided for all players during their hotel stay and travel. He added that routes would be cleared by bomb disposal squads and monitored via high-tech surveillance vehicles and mobile jammers.

The Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will host 11 of the 34 matches, including the qualifier on May 13. Meanwhile, Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will stage 13 matches and Karachi’s National Bank Stadium will host 11 matches, making it a nationwide celebration of cricket.

With cricket fans eagerly awaiting the PSL action, authorities have left no stone unturned to ensure a safe and festive environment for players and spectators alike.
