POLITICS & POLICY MAKING

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Salman Akram Raja on Saturday said that the joint session of parliament should be replaced with an All Parties Conference (APC) to address the country’s political and constitutional crisis.
Speaking to the media in London, Raja emphasized that PTI stands firmly with the Pakistan Army, rejecting speculation of any secret negotiations with the establishment. “I am not aware of any negotiations,” he said, adding that Senator Ijaz Chaudhry’s bail was granted purely on legal grounds.
He dismissed the cases against the PTI founder as baseless, stating that "Form 47 is not the mandate of the people" and does not reflect true democratic support. “We are not making deals. We are talking about the constitution and the law,” he reiterated.
Referring to the 26th Constitutional Amendment, Raja alleged it was an attack on the judiciary, saying, “The courts are not functioning as they should.”
He also spoke about the solitary confinement of the PTI founder, noting that he has no medical complaints such as blood pressure or sugar, but remains in isolation with limited access to legal counsel or family.
Salman Akram Raja’s remarks come amid renewed political tension and legal battles involving senior PTI leadership. His comments are seen as a call for national unity through dialogue rather than parliamentary force.
