Seven Barbershop Workers Killed in Gun Attack in Gwadar, Balochistan

In a tragic incident in Gwadar, Balochistan, seven barbershop workers were mercilessly killed in an overnight gun attack while they were asleep in their residential quarters. The assailants, who remain unidentified, stormed the premises and opened fire on the workers, leaving seven dead and one injured.

Gwadar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Zohaib Mohsin confirmed the devastating attack, noting that it occurred around 3 am local time in Surbandar, a locality situated approximately 25 kilometers from Gwadar. The victims, hailing from Punjab's Khanewal and Lodhran districts, worked at a barbershop in Surbandar, highlighting the senseless nature of the attack.

While the motive behind the attack remains unclear, initial investigations suggest that the victims may have been targeted due to their ethnicity. Muhammad Mohsin, a senior police official in Gwadar, stated, "Apparently it looks like they were attacked because they were Punjabis."

Following the tragic incident, law enforcement agencies swiftly responded, shifting the injured individual and the bodies of the deceased to Gwadar Hospital. The area was cordoned off as authorities initiated efforts to apprehend the perpetrators.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti condemned the heinous act, labeling it as "open terrorism." He assured that the families of the victims would receive full support and pledged to pursue the terrorists and their accomplices relentlessly.

The incident garnered widespread condemnation from political leaders across Pakistan. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed profound sorrow and solidarity with the victims' families, vowing to combat terrorism vigorously.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari echoed the sentiments, denouncing the brutal killing as an act of open terrorism. He emphasized the collective outrage felt by the nation and called for swift justice for the perpetrators.

As investigations into the attack continue, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges posed by terrorism in the region. The nation stands united in mourning the loss of innocent lives and remains resolute in its determination to eradicate terrorism from its roots.
