Sindh Cabinet Meets to Outline Development-Focused Budget for Next Fiscal Year

The Sindh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, convened a key meeting to discuss and shape the province’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The cabinet deliberated on reducing non-developmental expenditures and prioritizing new development schemes across sectors including water, drainage, solar energy, education, health, agriculture, and industrial growth.

Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah emphasized the importance of incorporating fresh development projects after no new schemes were introduced in the current fiscal year. He revealed that budget proposals had been collected from all districts, with a focus on public-private partnerships to accelerate project implementation.

Among the highlights of the proposed budget are efforts to strengthen local governments, expand solid waste management to additional districts, and activate digital cash transfer programs to bolster social security and poverty alleviation initiatives. A dedicated budget for hospital equipment upgrades and the completion of transportation projects in Karachi, including new bus stands in various districts, were also discussed.

Murad Ali Shah noted that the finalization of the budget would depend on the revenue allocations indicated by the federal government. Further meetings are scheduled post-Eid to finalize budget proposals in consultation with provincial ministers, advisors, and secretaries.

The meeting saw participation from provincial ministers, advisors, chief secretaries, and other senior officials.
