The Sindh government has announced plans to construct a rest house for High Court judges in the scenic area of Hawkes Bay, at an estimated cost of Rs197 million.
According to official documents, the rest house project is among the key initiatives under the Sindh Law Department and Judiciary's development programme, for which a total allocation of Rs1.75 billion has been earmarked in the provincial budget.
The planned rest house will provide a “spacious and comfortable facility” for judges of the Sindh High Court, aimed at offering them a secure and restful retreat for short stays, according to sources familiar with the project.
Critics, however, have raised questions about the timing and priority of such a project, especially amid widespread calls for budgetary restraint and better allocation of public funds to healthcare, education, and infrastructure.
This allocation is part of a broader judicial development plan which includes court infrastructure upgrades, staff housing, and digitalization efforts across the province’s legal framework.
Further details about the rest house project, including its completion timeline and design, are expected to be shared following formal approval from the Planning & Development Department.
