Trump Denies Holding or Offering Talks with Iran, Says Nuclear Sites Dismantled

U.S. President Donald Trump has denied that any talks or offers are currently underway with Iran, amid ongoing tensions over Tehran’s nuclear program.

In a statement released on Monday, President Trump clarified:

“We are not talking to Iran. We are not making any offers. The United States has already completely dismantled Iran’s nuclear facilities.”

The comments come just days after Trump suggested that direct talks with Iran might occur "next week", even hinting at the possibility of a new agreement. That statement had sparked widespread speculation in diplomatic circles and the media.

Adding to the confusion, American media outlets had reported that Washington was preparing to offer sanctions relief to Iran as part of upcoming negotiations — a claim that now appears to be unfounded.

Iran Rejects U.S. Claims

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi had earlier dismissed Trump’s previous remarks, stating there were no talks planned and reiterating that Iran would not negotiate under pressure or in the aftermath of military strikes.

The back-and-forth statements come after a series of U.S. and Israeli airstrikes severely damaged Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, which CIA Director John Ratcliffe recently claimed had set back Iran’s nuclear program by “years.”

Diplomatic Confusion or Strategic Messaging?

Analysts suggest the mixed signals from Washington may reflect internal divisions within the U.S. administration or an attempt at strategic ambiguity ahead of any real diplomacy.

Meanwhile, the international community continues to call for de-escalation, warning that the region remains on a knife’s edge following the Iran-Israel conflict and growing unrest across the Middle East.
