US Senators Threaten ICC Chief Prosecutor Over Potential Netanyahu Arrest Warrant

A group of US senators, predominantly Republicans, has issued a stern warning to International Criminal Court (ICC) Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan, cautioning against the issuance of arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other officials allegedly involved in the genocide of Palestinians.

 

According to reports from foreign media sources, a letter signed by 12 Republican senators threatens to impose sanctions on the ICC if warrants are issued against Israeli officials, including Netanyahu, in connection with the Gaza conflict.

 

The letter, addressed to ICC Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan, asserts that any action taken against Israeli officials by the International Court of Justice would not only be viewed as an attack on Israel but also as an infringement on the sovereignty of the United States.

 

The ongoing investigation by the ICC into Israeli aggression in Gaza and the West Bank has raised tensions, particularly amid speculation that arrest warrants may be issued for top Israeli officials, including Netanyahu. The investigation follows years of conflict, during which thousands of Palestinians have lost their lives and tens of thousands have been injured.

 

Despite international warnings against further escalation, concerns persist over the potential consequences of a ground operation in Rafah, following recent attacks in the region.
