A 12-year-old boy named Owais was allegedly doused in petrol and set ablaze by two individuals following a minor argument in Old Anarkali, Lahore.

According to the police, the child was present at his brother Rajab’s jewellery shop when a verbal dispute reportedly escalated into a horrific act of violence. The accused youths allegedly tortured the boy before pouring petrol on him and setting him on fire.

An FIR has been registered at the local police station on the complaint of Owais' brother. The child was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where he remains under intensive care.

No arrests have been made as of yet, sparking public outrage and demands for swift justice. A police spokesperson stated that the culprits have been identified and will be arrested soon, promising that they will be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

“This is an inhuman act that shocks the conscience. We are using all available resources to arrest the accused at the earliest,” said a senior police official.

The incident has sparked widespread condemnation on social media, with calls for authorities to ensure justice for the young victim and implement stricter protections for children.

As the investigation continues, human rights activists and citizens are urging law enforcement and the judicial system to act decisively against such barbaric acts of violence.
