The initial postmortem report of actress Humaira Asghar, whose body was discovered in a flat in Karachi’s upscale Defence Phase 6 area, reveals she had died 8 to 10 months ago, raising serious questions about how her death went unnoticed for so long.

According to the report, the body was in an advanced state of decomposition. While no broken bones were found, the lower part of the body had lost all flesh, and worms were found in the remains, suggesting the corpse had remained undiscovered for nearly a year.

The initial postmortem report also notes that it is currently difficult to detect signs of abuse from the physical examination due to the condition of the remains. Samples of Humaira’s hair and clothing have been sent for chemical testing to determine if any toxic substances or DNA evidence may offer further clues.

Discovery During Rent Dispute

Humaira’s death came to light on July 8, when a court bailiff visited her flat in the Ittehad Commercial area after her landlord filed a complaint for non-payment of rent.

When repeated knocks went unanswered, the door was broken open — revealing a harrowing scene. The decomposed body of the actress was found lying inside.

From Karachi to Lahore

After forensic procedures were completed, Humaira’s body was handed over to her family, who later departed for Lahore, where she will be laid to rest.

The case has sparked shock in both media and public circles, with many questioning how the death of a known figure remained unnoticed for so long in a populated area.
