Pakistani cueist Muhammad Asif is on the verge of another international snooker title as he prepares to face India’s Brijesh Damani in the final of the IBSF World Masters Snooker Championship 2025. The much-anticipated clash will take place on Friday at 6pm Bahrain Time (8pm Pakistan Time) at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Manama, Bahrain.
Asif, a former world amateur snooker champion, reached the final after a hard-fought 4-2 victory over India’s Manan Chandra in the semi-final. He posted frame scores of 118-6, 0-84, 25-76, 92-11, 87-62, and 72-41 in a match that demonstrated both resilience and tactical mastery.
Before the semi-final, Asif comfortably defeated Bahrain’s Habib Sabah 4-0 in the quarterfinals with dominant scores, including two breaks of 68. In the pre-quarterfinals, Asif showcased his experience by coming back from two frames down to defeat UAE’s Mohamed Shehab 4-2, including an emphatic 80-point break in the fourth frame.
Asif’s participation is part of the broader IBSF World Masters, U17, U21, and Men 6-Red Snooker Championships 2025, which are currently taking place in Bahrain with competitors from 15 countries.
Meanwhile, rising Pakistani snooker star Hasnain Akhtar is set to play in the final of the IBSF World U17 Snooker Championship against Wales’ Riley Powell. Their final match is also scheduled for Friday at 6pm Bahrain Time (8pm PKT).
Hasnain advanced to the final after an impressive 4-1 victory over Poland’s Oliwier Nizialek in the semi-final. He dominated the match with precise breaks of 41 and 42. In the quarterfinals, he blanked Oman’s Mutasim Al Saadi 3-0 with another strong performance.
The championship features a highly competitive field of 43 players from across the globe, split into 11 groups during the early stages. Both Asif and Hasnain have carried Pakistan’s flag with pride, reaching the final stages with commanding displays.
If victorious, Asif will cement his legacy as one of Pakistan’s finest cueists, while Hasnain Akhtar could emerge as the next big talent in the country’s snooker future.
