Balochistan High Court Orders Immediate Release of Mahrang Baloch, Activists

The Balochistan High Court on Monday ordered the immediate release of Mahrang Baloch, Bebo Baloch, Mama Ghaffar, and more than 92 other Baloch activists arrested under the Maintenance of Public Order (3MPO) law.

A two-member bench comprising Chief Justice Ijaz Swati and Justice Aamir Rana heard the case. The court directed the Balochistan government to implement the decision without delay and ensure that all released individuals are presented before the court tomorrow.

Legal Challenge Against Arrests

The case was filed by Agha Hassan Baloch, Central Information Secretary of the Balochistan National Party (BNP), who challenged the arrests, arguing that the activists were detained illegally. Advocate Sajid Tareen completed the arguments on behalf of the petitioners.

Prominent lawyers including Vice Chairman Bar Council Rahab Baledi Advocate, former Sessions Judge Zarif Baloch Advocate, Changez Baloch Advocate, and Nadia Baloch Advocate were also present during the proceedings.

Court Emphasizes Rule of Law

The bench emphasized the supremacy of law and ordered the Advocate General to ensure immediate compliance with the court’s directive. The Chief Justice clarified that the detainees must be presented in court on Tuesday to legally finalize their release and pass further necessary orders.

Reaction from Petitioners’ Side

Speaking to the media after the hearing, Advocate Sajid Tareen said that the court’s decision reaffirmed the power of rule of law over unlawful detention. "The daughters of Balochistan and hundreds of political activists were illegally imprisoned, but we will not leave them alone in this difficult time," he said.

Next Steps

The hearing has been adjourned until tomorrow, when the High Court will verify the presence of the released individuals and issue any additional legal instructions required to ensure their full release.
