Imran Khan from Adiala Jail: End Internal Differences, Focus on the Movement

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has urged party members to put an end to internal differences, especially those emerging after the recent Lahore meeting of PTI parliamentarians. Speaking from Adiala Jail, Imran Khan emphasized unity and discipline within the party, declaring that deliberate attempts are being made to divide the party ranks.

The message was conveyed to the media by Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan, who, along with two other sisters, visited him in jail. Addressing reporters outside the prison, she quoted Imran Khan as saying:

“We are sitting in jails, and you're creating differences. Put an end to personal agendas and focus all efforts on the movement.”

Allegations of Injustice

Aleema Khan also highlighted the poor treatment of Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, saying the jail authorities had violated their basic human rights. She alleged that Imran Khan’s access to newspapers and television had been cut off, and blamed the Adiala Jail superintendent and a military colonel for the inhumane conditions.

“All this is being done on the orders of the field marshal,” she claimed, without naming anyone directly.

Aleema added that the family has been visiting the jail for two years and stands firmly with the party and its leader.

Internal Discontent over Lahore Meeting

Imran Khan reportedly expressed satisfaction over the gathering of over 300 PTI parliamentarians in Lahore but warned that some individuals were using the event to create friction within party ranks. He urged that such personal rivalries must end immediately.

PTI leader Malik Ahmed Khan Bachhar confirmed the party's protest movement in Lahore will continue until August 5, stating that the opposition has the constitutional right to protest.

Meanwhile, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja reiterated that Imran Khan wants the Lahore meeting to be emphasized in the media, but added that tickets would not be given based on financial influence.

“We all have to walk together now,” Raja said, reflecting the party’s renewed push for internal alignment.

Lahore Meeting Welcomed

Earlier in the day, Aleema Khan had also spoken positively about the Lahore gathering of PTI parliamentarians. While speaking at the Gorakhpur checkpoint, she welcomed the unity demonstrated at the event, particularly from the Punjab parliamentarians.

“We said it earlier — the MNAs and MPAs of Punjab will show solidarity, and they have,” she noted, expressing optimism that the political climate would soon improve.

Despite not being invited to the meeting, Aleema said she was informed it was limited to elected representatives and that the family respected the party’s decision.
