Lahore High Court Reserves Verdict on Imran Khan’s Bail Pleas in May 9 Cases

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has reserved its verdict on the bail applications filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in connection with eight cases linked to the May 9 incidents.

According to Geo News, a two-member bench headed by Justice Shahbaz Ali Rizvi conducted the hearing on Monday. During the proceedings, representatives from the prosecution and relevant authorities appeared before the court to present their arguments.

Imran Khan, who is currently incarcerated, had filed bail applications in multiple cases stemming from the violent protests and attacks on military and government installations that occurred across the country following his arrest on May 9, 2023.

The legal team representing the former prime minister argued that the charges were politically motivated and that there was no direct evidence tying Khan to the violent incidents. The prosecution, however, maintained that Khan had incited violence and should not be granted bail in light of the gravity of the allegations.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the bench reserved its judgment, which is expected to be announced in the coming days.

The outcome of these bail applications could significantly impact the legal and political future of the PTI founder, who has been entangled in dozens of court cases since his ouster from office in 2022.
