Mass Protests Erupt Across Sindh Against Controversial Canal Project

Protests have erupted across Sindh as political, social, and nationalist parties, along with civil society groups, rally against the construction of six new canals from the Indus River, which they claim will divert water to Punjab’s desert areas.

For days, demonstrations have been held in Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, Larkana, and smaller towns, with thousands chanting slogans against the project. Protesters fear that the move will severely impact Sindh’s water resources, harming agriculture and local livelihoods.

📍 Golarchi – Protest at Shaheed Fazil Chowk continued for the fifth consecutive day. A six-kilometer foot march was also held.
