MQM-Pakistan to Contest Vacant Senate Seat with Nighat Mirza

KARACHI: MQM-Pakistan has officially decided to contest the Senate seat that became vacant following the death of prominent PPP leader Taj Haider. The party’s convener, Dr. Khalid Maqbool, has issued a ticket to Nighat Mirza, who will represent MQM-Pakistan in the upcoming election.

According to sources, Nighat Mirza will submit her party ticket to the Returning Officer (RO) today. This decision comes amid a request from the PPP for MQM-Pakistan to withdraw its candidacy, which was made yesterday.

Today marks the final day for candidates to withdraw from the election, and the Senate election is scheduled to be held on May 6 at the Sindh Assembly building. The seat became vacant following the untimely death of Taj Haider, a senior PPP leader.
