Nawaz Sharif Accuses Imran Khan of Betrayal, Calls for Accountability at PML-N Meeting

In a fiery address to the PML-N's Central Working Committee (CWC) in Lahore, party supremo Nawaz Sharif accused PTI founder Imran Khan of betrayal and called for accountability in Pakistani politics.

Sharif recounted his efforts to work together with Khan for the country's sake after the 2013 elections, highlighting his visit to Khan in Banigala to discuss cooperation. However, he lamented Khan's subsequent involvement in protests after returning from London, alleging a betrayal of trust.

Expressing bewilderment at the turn of events, Sharif criticized the disqualification of a prime minister representing millions of people over what he deemed a minor issue. He also called for scrutiny of former Supreme Court judges who resigned prematurely, advocating for accountability of those who "destroyed and ruined Pakistan."

Reflecting on his government's economic performance, Sharif urged voters to consider which political party had best served them before casting their ballots.

The meeting also saw the acceptance of Shehbaz Sharif's resignation from the party presidency, with Nawaz Sharif set to reclaim the position following his legal relief. Rana Sanaullah has been nominated as the party's chief election commissioner.

The developments underscore a pivotal moment in PML-N's leadership transition, with Nawaz Sharif poised to lead the party once again.
