Members of a polio vaccination team came under threat when an armed villager tried to harass the team while they were administering polio drops in Khadjo village. The accused, identified as Murtaza Chandio, reportedly brandished a weapon and shouted at the team, attempting to intimidate and harass them.

Lady health workers Naziran Qambrani, Shamshad Malano, and others stated that they narrowly escaped the attack after Murtaza Chandio pointed weapons at them. Despite intervention attempts by female family members of the accused, Murtaza remained aggressive and uncooperative.

Upon receiving the report, a police team led by DSP Mashooq Kerio quickly arrived, surrounded the accused’s residence, and arrested him. Police confirmed that Murtaza Chandio will undergo a medical examination to check for intoxication, and further legal action will be taken after investigation.

Meanwhile, the lady health workers expressed serious concerns over the lack of security arrangements for polio teams, stating that such incidents are increasing due to inadequate protection. They warned that without proper security, the polio teams may boycott the vaccination campaign to safeguard their lives.

This incident highlights ongoing challenges faced by polio workers in sensitive areas and emphasizes the urgent need for enhanced security measures to ensure the success of public health campaigns.
