CRIME

A horrifying display of criminal impunity rocked the town of Bahu Khoso, where armed members of the Kokari gang brutally murdered a young man, Gul Hassan alias Abi Khoso, in a calculated act of revenge—six and a half months after their associate was killed during a robbery resistance.
According to police sources and eyewitness accounts, Gul Hassan, son of Dad Muhammad alias Eid Khoso, was gunned down by two motorcycle-borne Kokari gang members while returning from the village of Sher Muhammad Khoso near the Manjhi Branch. The armed assailants opened fire and fled, sparking immediate panic.
Hearing gunshots, villagers and relatives pursued the attackers as far as Magsi Stop, but the gang members evaded capture. Police later reached the scene, transported the body to the hospital, and handed it over to the family after postmortem. Gul Hassan was laid to rest in Abani Graveyard, attended by hundreds.
This killing is believed to be retaliation for the death of Kokari gang robber Baqa Muhammad Kokari Chotholani, who was killed during a robbery attempt near Lando Gir under RD-44 police station six months ago. Following Baqa’s death, gang members made threatening videos, warning the Khosa community of Paland.
In a grotesque display of celebration, the Kokari gang took over the victim’s home village, fired in the air, and threw garlands of banknotes on villagers and relatives of the deceased robber. Disturbing videos and images of the incident have since gone viral on social media, showing criminal Nasrullah Kokari Chotholani lying on Gul Hassan's body before escaping.
This is not the first attack. Four months ago, Khamisu Khoso, uncle of Gul Hassan, survived an armed attack by Kokari gang members while sitting at a shop. Despite an FIR against Nasrullah, Sabir, Parvez, and Muhammad Sharif Kokari Chotholani, no arrests were made.
Sher Muhammad alias Bojo Khoso, uncle of the slain youth, said they had already offered reconciliation and compensation to the Kokari gang, claiming they were not responsible for Baqa Muhammad’s death. “Despite that, my innocent nephew was brutally murdered,” he stated.
The Khoso family is demanding justice, urging SSP Jacobabad Saddam Hussain Khaskheli to take suo motu notice of the incident, arrest the culprits, and ensure justice is served.
Meanwhile, law and order in the region hangs in the balance, with criminal gangs seemingly operating above the law, threatening the peace and safety of the local population.
