CRIME

A chilling incident unfolded in Baran Bajkani village near the Tangwani link road, where armed men gunned down a local villager, Muhammad Khan Bakrani, reportedly for refusing to pay ransom. The area falls under the jurisdiction of the Tangwani police station.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers opened indiscriminate fire, killing Bakrani on the spot. In a swift and bold reaction, enraged relatives of the victim tracked and apprehended three suspects from nearby Ghulam Muhammad Dahani village and handed them over to the police.
However, despite the handover, the police have yet to confirm or publicly acknowledge the arrests. A video showing a scuffle between villagers and suspects, with police standing by, has since gone viral on social media, raising serious concerns over police inaction.
The body of the deceased was shifted to the hospital for postmortem examination.
A case has been registered on the complaint of the deceased’s brother, Samano Bakrani, who named Chakar Dahani, Nazir Dahani, Abdul Karim Dahani, and three unknown individuals as responsible for the murder. The FIR alleges that the accused used Kalashnikov rifles to kill Muhammad Khan Bakrani for refusing to pay extortion money.
Despite the gravity of the situation and clear citizen involvement in apprehending suspects, the local police have not issued any statement regarding the legal status of the three handed-over individuals, further fueling public outrage.
Locals and rights activists are calling for immediate transparency and accountability from law enforcement in Tangwani, demanding justice for the slain villager and firm action against the accused.
