Bilawal Bhutto Warns of Nuclear Threat Amid Rising India-Pakistan Tensions

LONDON – Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, expressed grave concern over the escalating tensions between Pakistan and India, highlighting the potential nuclear threat that could arise should the conflict intensify.

In a recent interview with the British media, Bilawal acknowledged the dangerous reality of both countries being nuclear powers. He stressed that while a nuclear conflict is something no one wants, the fear remains palpable whenever tensions rise. “God forbid there is a nuclear conflict, but both Pakistan and India are nuclear powers, and when tensions increase between the two countries, this fear is always there,” he said.

Bilawal underscored Pakistan’s full readiness to respond to any aggression from India. He emphasized that the country's armed forces, including the Air Force and Navy, possess the full capacity to protect Pakistan’s sovereignty and defend against any external threats.

While acknowledging the past wars between Pakistan and India, Bilawal expressed hope that such a conflict would not recur. He called for common sense to prevail, urging the international community to remain engaged and intervene effectively to de-escalate tensions.

“Unfortunately, wars have taken place between the two countries in the past, and our hope is that this will not happen now. We need an environment where India and Pakistan can work together. If this does not happen, the situation may turn into a limited clash, possibly involving the Air Force or other military sectors, and this could escalate into a full-scale war,” Bilawal warned.

He also called for a transparent and impartial investigation into the recent Pahalgam incident in Indian-occupied Kashmir, which has been a flashpoint in the ongoing tensions. He reiterated the importance of international intervention to ensure that conflicts do not spiral into uncontrollable situations.

The PPP chairman’s remarks come at a time when both countries are on high alert, with military buildups and aggressive rhetoric escalating. While the international community continues to urge de-escalation, the nuclear threat remains an ever-present concern as both nations possess advanced nuclear arsenals.
