A shocking highway robbery unfolded near Son Wah on the Larkana–Shikarpur Indus Highway within the Garhi Yasin police jurisdiction, as over 12 armed dacoits ambushed a vehicle carrying seven individuals from Dera Murad Jamali, Balochistan.
According to initial reports, the car was en route from Larkana to Balochistan when it was forcibly stopped at gunpoint by unknown assailants. The robbers held all seven occupants hostage and looted their belongings. The victims have been identified as Khuda Bakhsh Bhangar, Imran Bagrani, Sajjad Rind, Ijaz Bharani, Asif Bharani, and Irfan Lashari.
The robbers tied the hands and feet of five of the men — Khuda Bakhsh, Imran, Sajjad, Ijaz, and one other — and left them on the roadside. However, they abducted two victims, Asif Bharani and Irfan Lashari, and also took the vehicle with them.
The released victims immediately informed Garhi Yasin Police, who launched a pursuit, but the culprits vanished into the Golodro area. Later, the abandoned vehicle was discovered near the Ibrahim Mosque and Tablighi Markaz in Shikarpur city, but the whereabouts of the two kidnapped men remain unknown.
DSP Zohor Ahmed Soomro of Garhi Yasin confirmed the robbery and abduction, stating that the robbers initially aimed to seize the car but, upon resistance, kidnapped two individuals and fled.
The victims stated that the robbers were heavily armed and acted with premeditated intent. “They seemed to know our route. They looted us, tied us up, and disappeared into the wilderness with our friends and car,” said Khuda Bakhsh Bhangar.
The incident has sparked fear among travelers and raised questions about the security situation along Sindh’s inter-provincial highways, which have seen a surge in banditry and roadside abductions in recent months.
Law enforcement agencies are continuing their search for the abducted victims and have pledged to bring the culprits to justice.
