POLITICS & POLICY MAKING

Former Prime Minister and PTI founding chairman Imran Khan has directed party leadership to launch a protest movement against the federal government after 10 Muharram, calling the current political setup a "system of slavery."
Speaking to reporters outside Adiala Jail, Khan’s sister Aleema Khan revealed the directive following a brief 15-minute visit by his sisters. She criticized jail authorities for restricting access to Imran Khan and his legal team, noting that lawyer Zaheer Abbas was only allowed to meet for 90 seconds, while other senior lawyers like Salman Safdar, Salman Akram Raja, and Niazullah Niazi were denied any meeting.
Aleema Khan said, “These are tactics being used to minus the PTI founder from politics. He’s being kept in solitary confinement for 22 hours a day, not allowed books, and denied his rights.”
🗣️ Imran Khan’s Message from Jail
According to Aleema, Imran Khan expressed outrage over the alleged manipulation of the judiciary and parliament, referencing the 26th Constitutional Amendment and a planned 27th Amendment, warning that these moves “signal martial law and the end of democracy.”
“If you silence the media and stuff the assemblies with unelected people, then just declare monarchy,” Imran reportedly told his family.
He further said Pakistan was built on the foundation of a single word — vote — and that denying people this right equals enslavement. “It’s better for me to stay in jail forever than live in this kind of slavery,” he reportedly said.
🛑 Call for Protest Movement
Imran Khan urged the PTI leadership to prepare for a full-scale movement after 10 Muharram. He praised resistance in the Punjab Assembly, where 26 PTI lawmakers remain suspended, and advised that party members should hold parallel assemblies outside the legislature.
He conveyed his instructions through his legal counsel Salman Akram Raja, calling on party workers to “rise against this system of forced silence and constitutional manipulation.”
🚫 Denial of Rights in Jail
Aleema Khan also condemned what she described as Imran’s “inhuman” treatment inside Adiala Jail:
· Solitary confinement for 22 hours
· Denial of books
· Inadequate meeting time with family and legal counsel
She said the PTI will soon unveil a detailed plan of action for protests, based on the founder’s directions.
