The escalating conflict between Iran and Israel has taken a deadly turn, with three more Iranian nuclear scientists martyred in recent Israeli airstrikes, bringing the total number of scientists killed in such attacks to nine. The latest victims, named as Ali Bakhoi Karimi, Mansour Asghari, and Saeed Borji, were reportedly key figures in Iran’s nuclear program.
According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency, the attacks also claimed the lives of two high-ranking military officials: General Gholam Reza Mehrabi, Chief of the General Staff for Intelligence, and General Mehdi Rabbani, Deputy Chief of Military Operations. The deaths have triggered a significant military and diplomatic fallout in the region.
In response, Iran launched “Operation Promised Sadiq III”, a large-scale missile offensive targeting central Israel. More than 150 locations across Tel Aviv and the Sharon region were hit, including military installations, suspected nuclear facilities, and air bases. Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed that satellite imagery of the targeted sites has been obtained.
The Israeli military, labeling its offensive “Operation Rising Line,” described the strikes as a direct effort to dismantle Iran’s nuclear weapons capabilities. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant issued a chilling warning to Tehran: “If attacks continue, Tehran will be burned.”
On the ground, the conflict has already caused significant casualties. Four Israelis were killed and more than 90 injured in the Iranian missile retaliation, with numerous buildings reduced to rubble.
Meanwhile, loud explosions rocked Tehran. Iranian authorities claim that the Mehrabad Airport and a radar station were hit by Israeli fire. Iran also announced it had shot down two Israeli fighter jets and arrested a female pilot from one of the downed aircraft.
International reactions have been swift and divided. Iran’s Foreign Ministry issued warnings to the United States, the United Kingdom, and France, cautioning that their military bases and ships in the region would be targeted if they provide support to Israel. The ministry also declared ongoing nuclear talks “meaningless” due to Washington’s alleged involvement.
China condemned Israel’s actions, asserting Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear energy and calling for an end to the violence. In a rare intervention, Pope Leo, spiritual head of the Christian world, appealed for restraint from both sides. “The world needs peace,” he said, “and no nation should threaten the existence of another.”
The appointment of Brigadier General Majid Mousavi as the new head of Iran’s Aerospace Division signals Tehran’s intent to maintain strategic defense leadership amid the chaos.
As both nations brace for further escalation, the possibility of a broader regional war looms larger than ever, with diplomatic efforts hanging by a thread.
