The Lahore High Court (LHC) has scheduled the hearing of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s bail applications in eight separate cases linked to the May 9 riots, including the attacks on Jinnah House and Askari Tower.
According to the cause list issued by the LHC Registrar’s Office, a two-member bench led by Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi will hear the bail petitions on June 16. The court has summoned all parties, including the legal counsel, to present arguments.
The bail petitions were filed by Barrister Salman Safdar, representing Imran Khan, who has been named in multiple FIRs related to arson, encirclement, and attacks on military and public properties during the May 9 protests.
🔍 Petitioner’s Argument
In the plea, the petitioner maintains that Imran Khan has no involvement in the violent incidents and that he has been nominated on political grounds. The petitions argue that the trial court denied bail without properly considering the facts, and request that the LHC grant post-arrest bail in these politically motivated cases.
The cases include Jinnah House attack, Askari Tower arson, and encirclement-related incidents across Lahore and other areas following Khan’s initial arrest in 2023, which triggered widespread unrest across the country.
