In a major breakthrough in the chilling murder case of Mustafa Amir, Karachi Police have submitted an interim challan against the main accused Armaghan and his accomplice Shiraz in the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), shedding light on disturbing details of the crime.
According to the challan, both suspects have been arrested and are facing charges of kidnapping, torture, and premeditated murder. Accused Shiraz has confessed to his involvement during interrogation and provided a detailed account of the events that led to Mustafa Amir’s tragic death.
Shiraz revealed that on February 4, Armaghan called him to his house, where a girl named Angela was found injured. Two days later, on February 6, Mustafa arrived at Armaghan’s house. It was then that Armaghan physically assaulted, abused, and tied up Mustafa, before loading him into a car and driving to Hub, Balochistan. There, in a horrifying act, Armaghan set the car — with Mustafa inside — on fire, and returned to Karachi on foot and by Suzuki van.
CCTV footage, DNA matching, and confessional videos before the SSP corroborate the sequence of events. The statement of Angela — also known as Zuma — has been recorded, along with two employees of Armaghan under Section 164. Additional evidence includes the forensic examination of Armaghan’s laptop, the recovery of a mobile phone, and a blood-stained weapon, all retrieved on the accused’s indication.
The burned body, discovered earlier in Hub and buried by a charitable organization, was later identified as Mustafa through DNA testing. The court has also ordered exhumation of the body for post-mortem examination. The original mobile phone of the victim is still missing.
The backstory of the crime reveals a personal feud over a girl, which escalated during New Year’s Eve. According to investigators, both accused and victim were friends, and the conflict led Armaghan to threaten Mustafa and Angela. The girl reportedly left Pakistan on January 12 and is now being contacted via Interpol to aid in the investigation.
Earlier, on January 6, Mustafa went missing from the Defence area. His mother filed a missing person report, which later escalated into a ransom case when she received a Rs20 million demand call from a U.S.-based number. The AVCC took charge, but during a raid on February 9, the accused fired at police, injuring DSP AVCC Ahsan Zulfiqar and his bodyguard.
After further investigation and arrest of Shiraz, more horrifying truths were unveiled, leading to the recovery of the car and body from Hub. The CTD continues to investigate recovered weapons, and final forensic reports from Punjab Forensic Lab are awaited before submitting the final challan.
This case has shocked the nation and raised questions about violent crime, drug links, and failures in early intervention. Citizens and civil society are now calling for swift justice and transparency in the prosecution process.
