Pakistan Accuses India of State-Sponsored Terrorism, Demands Evidence Over Pahalgam Attack

Amid rising tensions between Pakistan and India following the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, Indian-occupied Kashmir, Pakistan’s military has categorically denied involvement and instead accused India of sponsoring terrorism inside Pakistan.

In a detailed press briefing on Tuesday, Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, rejected India's allegations against Pakistan regarding the Pahalgam attack, which claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists. He stated that even after seven days, New Delhi had failed to provide a “shred of evidence” to support its accusations.

Lt Gen Chaudhry went on to reveal that Pakistan had arrested an Indian-trained terrorist in Jhelum on April 25. The suspect, a Pakistani national, was allegedly working under direct orders from officers of the Indian army, including Major Sandeep Verma and Subedar Sukvinder. Recovered materials included IEDs, cash, mobile phones, and an Indian-origin drone.

“The evidence we are presenting today is irrefutable and can be verified by any independent agency,” Lt Gen Chaudhry asserted. He also played an alleged audio recording of an Indian army officer discussing funding and instructions for terror attacks in Pakistan.

He further revealed that the apprehended terrorist had carried out four IED attacks in Pakistan, the latest occurring a day after the Pahalgam incident. Drones were reportedly used to deliver explosives inside Pakistan’s borders.

The army spokesman emphasized that this was a clear indication of state-sponsored terrorism by the Indian army, not just intelligence agencies like RAW. He said India had activated terror cells across Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to escalate unrest following the Pahalgam attack.

Highlighting Pakistan’s defensive actions, DG ISPR noted that security forces recently killed 71 terrorists attempting infiltration from Afghanistan, with 54 of them killed in a single night near North Waziristan.

In a related development, Pakistan also shot down an Indian quadcopter near the Line of Control, as border skirmishes between the two nations have resumed after four years of calm.

Pakistan’s Mission to the UN also issued a press release claiming to have “credible evidence” of foreign involvement in the Jaffer Express train attack, carried out by BLA terrorists in March.

While Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for a neutral international investigation into the Pahalgam attack, DG ISPR’s briefing appears to be Pakistan’s firm diplomatic and military rebuttal to India’s claims.
