Security forces successfully neutralised three terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Balochistan, according to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The military’s media wing said the operation was launched based on credible intelligence regarding terrorist activity in the area. “After an intense exchange of fire, three terrorists were successfully neutralised,” the ISPR confirmed. The statement added that weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the site.
The terrorists killed were reportedly involved in multiple violent activities targeting both law enforcement agencies and innocent civilians in the region.
“Sanitisation operations are being conducted to eliminate any other terrorists hiding in the area,” the ISPR noted. The military reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring peace and stability in Balochistan, stating that the forces remain determined “to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability, and progress of Balochistan”.
Pakistan has experienced a sharp rise in terrorist incidents over the past year, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the breakdown of the ceasefire between the government and the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in November 2022.
According to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), militant violence reached alarming levels in March 2025, with the number of attacks exceeding 100 — the highest since November 2014.
The Global Terrorism Index 2025 ranked Pakistan as the second most affected country by terrorism, with fatalities from such attacks increasing by 45 percent to 1,081 deaths over the past year.
