Pakistani Cyber Attack Hits Key Indian Defense and Power Websites

As tensions escalate on the Line of Control (LoC), the conflict has now spilled into cyberspace. In a significant development, Pakistani cyber teams have successfully launched coordinated cyber attacks on multiple high-profile Indian websites, targeting sensitive defense and infrastructure systems.

According to sources, the Pakistani cyber offensive has defaced and hacked websites including those of the Indian Assam Rifles, the Department of Atomic Energy Portal, and India's Defense Production systems. In a bold and symbolic move, hacked websites displayed messages declaring: "Evidence of Indian terrorism. India is the cradle of terrorism."

The breach is being seen as both a technical success and a psychological counterstrike in the ongoing conflict between the two nuclear-armed nations.

Security experts report that sensitive data from India's Defense Production website has already appeared for sale on dark web forums. The exposed information may include confidential defense manufacturing and procurement records, making it one of the most serious cyber breaches India has faced in recent years.

Additionally, earlier attacks targeted critical infrastructure, including the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited. That cyber attack led to a massive power outage across Maharashtra, disrupting electricity supply and reportedly wiping out commercial and domestic meter records.

This digital retaliation follows Pakistan’s military action along the LoC, where Pakistani forces have been engaged in targeting and destroying key Indian posts. The cyber offensive represents a multidimensional strategy by Pakistan, using digital warfare to undermine Indian command, control, and infrastructure capabilities.

Cybersecurity analysts have warned that such tit-for-tat digital warfare could escalate further unless diplomatic channels intervene. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s cyber capabilities appear to have delivered a powerful message about its readiness to defend its sovereignty on both military and cyber fronts.
