Pakistani Forces Destroy 77 Indian Drones Amid Escalating Tensions

Amid rising cross-border tensions, Pakistani security forces have successfully destroyed a total of 77 drones sent by India since May 6, thwarting repeated aerial incursions and showcasing Pakistan’s advanced air defense capabilities.

According to security sources, 29 drones were intercepted and destroyed by the evening of May 8. In the past 24 hours alone, an additional 48 Indian drones were brought down, bringing the total to 77.

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry confirmed the development and provided key insights into Pakistan’s aerial defense posture. “All drones were being continuously monitored through our radar systems,” he said. “Our air defense capabilities are such that even small drones are tracked in real time. We follow strict operational procedures, especially in urban areas and during commercial air traffic.”

General Chaudhry emphasized that Pakistan's military remains alert and prepared to counter any further aggression. “Whenever a drone enters our airspace, it is immediately detected and assessed for threat. Our forces are fully capable of neutralizing these intrusions swiftly and safely,” he added.

The latest wave of drone incursions comes in the wake of escalating hostilities between the two nuclear-armed neighbors following the events of May 6 and 7. Pakistan has consistently denied Indian allegations and retaliated only against confirmed military targets.

This surge in drone activity has further strained bilateral relations, with Pakistani officials warning against provocations that could spiral into broader conflict. The government has reiterated its commitment to defend the country’s sovereignty and called upon the international community to take note of India’s hostile actions.

With the region already on high alert, Pakistan’s defensive success in neutralizing these aerial threats is being viewed as both a strategic and technological milestone. Defense analysts suggest the capability to detect and destroy such a large number of drones in a short period highlights the readiness and strength of Pakistan's integrated air defense network.
