Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar has said that the law and order situation in Sindh is significantly better than in the past, adding that the Sindh Police are now well-armed, skilled, and fully capable of countering criminals, robbers, and enemies of peace.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a newly established model police station in Thatta, the provincial home minister said that the government is committed to modernizing the policing system. He added that the Thatta model police station is a people-friendly facility equipped with a public convenience center, a waiting room, investigation unit, women and children’s desk, and legal guidance desks for complainants.

“The goal is to ensure timely relief and easy access to justice for the public,” he stated.

Lanjar also emphasized the ongoing efforts to eliminate the dacoit culture from northern Sindh, particularly in areas like Kandhkot, Shikarpur, and Larkana. He expressed gratitude to the Army Chief and Federal Home Minister for extending support and providing modern weaponry to the Sindh Police.

Responding to media queries, the minister confirmed that operations to recover Priya Kumari, a kidnapped girl, are ongoing and that the government sincerely hopes for her safe return. On the topic of police force strength, Lanjar clarified that while there is no shortage of personnel, recruitment is ongoing to enhance the police’s operational capacity in remote and high-risk areas.

He dismissed reports of any rift with IG Sindh, saying, “Differences are based on equality and mutual discussion, not personal conflict. The IG is leading the police as per his responsibility.”

Addressing a serious complaint from journalist Makhdoom Abid Qureshi regarding death threats and the murder of his brother, the home minister ordered the SSP to ensure the journalist’s security and expedite the arrest of the accused.

The ceremony was attended by prominent officials including Provincial Minister Syed Riaz Hussain Shah Shirazi, MNA Sadiq Ali Memon, Chairman District Council Abdul Hameed Panhwar, DIG Tariq Razak Dharejo, Deputy Commissioner Munawar Abbas Soomro, SSP Dr. Muhammad Imran Khan, and CIA Incharge Mumtaz Brohi.

Earlier, Home Minister Lanjar toured the police station, inspecting key departments including the investigation room, lock-up, and women’s desk, and appreciated the efforts of SSP Thatta Dr. Muhammad Imran in implementing reforms.
