DG ISPR: Ceasefire with India Holds, But Pakistan Ready to Respond Swiftly

Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has expressed hope that the ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India will continue to hold, while reiterating that Pakistan remains ready to respond decisively to any provocation from its eastern neighbor.

In an interview with an American newspaper, the army spokesperson stated that the ceasefire appears to be holding following four days of missile and air strikes, with senior military officials from both sides actively engaged through the direct hotline communication channel.

“The Pakistan-India hotline is open. Senior officers continue communication, and we hope peace will be maintained along the border,” he said.

He emphasized Pakistan’s transparency in reporting the loss of life and property from Indian attacks and urged India to adopt a similar approach.

Terrorism and Indian Involvement

In a separate interview with a Turkish news agency, Lt Gen Chaudhry shed light on the alarming scale of terrorism faced by Pakistan, alleging Indian sponsorship behind these activities.

“Pakistan remains the most affected country by terrorism globally, with more than 3,700 incidents reported since January 2024,” he stated.

He added that 3,896 people have been martyred in the last 17 months, including 2,582 civilians and security personnel. According to him, India has played a role in sponsoring these attacks directly or through proxies.

The DG ISPR pointed specifically to Indian support for the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), which was involved in the deadly attack on the Jaffar Express. He noted that the BLA had openly sought support from India and that Indian politicians, retired generals, and other figures had voiced approval for such terrorist elements.

India-Pakistan Conflict & Kashmir

Commenting on India’s allegations surrounding the Pahalgam attack in Indian-Occupied Kashmir, the DG ISPR said that New Delhi had failed to provide any evidence to back its claims and was using the incident as a cover to justify its aggressive posturing.

“Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute. Whatever is happening in India or Occupied Kashmir is their internal issue,” he noted, while reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peace.

However, he cautioned that any Indian aggression would be met with force.

“We are a peace-loving nation, but if India provokes or attacks, our response will be swift and resolute. India is not America, and Pakistan is not Afghanistan. India is not Israel, and Pakistan is not Palestine. Pakistan will never bow to Indian hegemony,” he asserted.

Indian Losses During Recent Clashes

Lt Gen Chaudhry also confirmed that during the recent escalation, Pakistan’s forces successfully shot down five Indian warplanes, including three Rafale jets.

“The world knows Pakistan shot down Indian planes, but New Delhi refuses to accept this reality,” he said, implying a deliberate effort by India to downplay its military setbacks.

He concluded that the quicker India acknowledges ground realities and engages in genuine peace efforts, the better it will be for both regional and global stability.
