POLITICS & POLICY MAKING

Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has refused to undergo a polygraph test for the fourth consecutive time in connection with the May 9 violence cases registered in Lahore.
A Lahore Police investigation team led by DSP Asif Javed arrived at Adiala Jail to conduct the test. The team included Inspector Muhammad Tassaduq, Inspector Saleem, Inspector Naveed, and Abid Ayub from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency.
The test was to be conducted as part of the investigation into 11 May 9-related cases in Lahore, which involve allegations against the PTI founder of inciting or facilitating attacks on military and state installations following his arrest last year.
However, Imran Khan once again declined to cooperate with the investigation team and refused to take the polygraph (lie detector) test, as he had done three times previously.
Following his refusal, the Lahore Police team exited Adiala Jail without conducting the test or gathering further forensic evidence, including photogrammetric or voice matching data.
The Punjab Police has been seeking to collect forensic evidence as part of its investigation into the violent protests that erupted after Khan’s brief arrest in May 2023, which led to widespread damage to public and military property.
