Imran Khan’s Sons Will Return, Says PTI’s Salman Akram Raja

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Salman Akram Raja on Saturday affirmed that it is the fundamental right of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sons to return to Pakistan, adding that “they will come.” His remarks came during a media interaction outside KP House following a luncheon organized in honor of PTI’s national and provincial assembly members.

Senior PTI leaders including Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub and KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur also participated in the gathering, which served as a platform for discussions on upcoming political moves and the overall economic climate.

Speaking to the media, Salman Akram Raja stated, “I am going to Lahore to consult party leaders on the current political and economic situation. Under Article 19 of the Constitution, freedom of speech is our fundamental right — this right has been taken from us.”

He emphasized that the PTI leadership seeks to engage directly with the public. “We want to sit with the people, listen to their problems. Our convoy to Lahore is for consultation, nothing more. There will be meetings today and tomorrow, and we’ll return thereafter,” he said.

Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan clarified the purpose of the Lahore visit, stating, “Only parliamentarians are traveling to Lahore. There is no question of arrests—this is political engagement, not confrontation.”

He further noted that PTI has strong ties with Punjab’s legislators and that internal consultations are part of the party’s preparations for the upcoming Senate elections. “We need unity to strengthen democracy. Meetings like these are crucial,” he added.

The Lahore visit is being viewed as a key step in PTI’s broader strategy to reconnect with its base, build political momentum, and prepare for legislative developments in the coming weeks.
