The Sindh High Court Circuit Bench convened to review the case of Shaheed Bashir Khan Qureshi, who is alleged to have been poisoned to death. During the hearing, Jasqam Chairman Sanan Qureshi appeared alongside his lawyer, Yusuf Leghari, to present critical evidence regarding the circumstances surrounding Qureshi's death.
Lawyer Yusuf Leghari informed Justice Zulfikar Ali Sangi that the post-mortem report indicated the presence of phosphorus in Qureshi’s body, suggesting that he was indeed poisoned. Leghari urged the court to file a murder case against former federal interior minister Rehman Malik and others involved in the matter.
The hearing also addressed procedural issues, as Leghari pointed out that the original plaintiff in the case had passed away. He requested the court to allow another family member to step in as the plaintiff, emphasizing the need for continuity in the pursuit of justice.
The court has adjourned the hearing until October 10, leaving the family hopeful yet anxious for a resolution. Speaking to the media outside the court, Sanan Qureshi reflected on the impact of his father’s death, stating, “My father was martyred for the crime of love for Sindh. Maqsood Qureshi and Salman Wadha were also killed. I hope that we will get justice one day.”
As the case continues to unfold, it highlights ongoing concerns about political violence and accountability in Pakistan, with the Qureshi family seeking answers and justice for their loss.
